An Introduction to your colon

I will share some facts with you about the colon which are quite incredible. The combined length of the small and large bowels is approximately 30 feet. Most absorption and assimilation of nutrients takes place in the small bowel and its total absorptive area amounts to the size of a tennis court, it has an increased surface area due to folds and villi (very small finger like projections) on areas of its wall. The bowel is home to many colonies of bacteria, between 200 - 500 different species live there and these play an important role.

Quite simply the bowel is the sewage system of our bodies, if neglected it can lead to the reabsorption of toxins, unpleasent indications of this can include unhealthy skin, dull eyes, foul breath, low energy levels and feeling sluggish along with a fuzzy, hazy mind.

Perhaps you may now be able to see why colonics are an excellent detox treatment and a great way to keep the colon in a clean healthy state, and what a superb starting point for a general healthy kick start.

Q1) What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

A1) Colon Hydrotherapy is also known as colonics and colonic irrigation. In simple terms it can be described as an internal bath which involves cleansing the colon (large bowel) to aid evacuation of wastes. We use the Dotolo Toxygen device,a modern sophisticated pressure system which is extremely safe, it has a 3 stage water filter system including ultraviolet, ensuring the water is purified to optimum levels. Another reassuring point is that this device has its own built in cleaning system for the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

We only ever use disposable speculums and tubes which is absolutely essential and without compromise.

Q2) What are the benefits?

A2) Colonics are a unique complimentary therapy and an excellent body work treatment that has many potential benefits including the following:

Detoxing: Contributes to cleansing of the Liver, blood and Kidneys

Rehydration: The benefits from rehydrating the colon has a very positive outcome for your body; you may feel refreshed, rejuvenated, cleansed and have noticeably sparkly eyes after your treatment.

Helps with IBS: Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be painful and uncomfortable, yet a Colon Hydrotherapy programme can ease feelings such as bloatedness, constipation and diarrhoea by helping to re-educate the bowel.

Can help with skin problems: Acne, psoriasis and dark circles under the eyes can be improved with a maintenance programme of colonics.

Colon Hydrotherapy can help to increase energy levels and stamina, it assists with re-educating the bowel and exersising the bowel muscle. By eliminating toxins from our body we can have a better feeling of wellbeing, improved sleep and clearer minds.

Colonics can help to restore the correct healthy balance of bacteria in the bowel and assist with strengthening the immune system.

Q3) How will I feel?

A3) Most people are surprised at how relaxed and comfortable they feel during a treatment. It is not painful although some people may experience a mild cramp-like discomfort of short duration on occasions.

Colonics are an amazing therapy and I am very pleased to bring these treatments to Peterborough.

I hope you will see Colonics not just as a one off treatment but as a maintenance programme for your general wellbeing.
